I’ve Fallen for Fall! October 31, 2010

Hello Lovelies!

It has been much too long since my last post, but between classes and homework, I can’t believe how quickly time as gone by!! Lots of things have been on mind as far as fashion goes, and its been interesting to see people on campus attempting to make the big switch from their fun summery clothes, into the heavy sweaters of fall.

Now, I will be the first to admit I have NEVER liked fall. I am much more of a summer, “California” girl than a “bundle up in heavy sweaters and scarves” girl. However, on my most recent shopping adventure, I can proudly say I have fallen for fall!!! This year’s fall fashion has me actually excited to wear such things as jackets, cardigans, sweaters, and scarves!

One of my favorite looks right now for fall is leggings with long sweaters or shirts and a pair of great boots! I recently attended a concert in Indianapolis and took a funky, rock approach with a white “Beatles” Tee, black leggings, black Ugg boots, black cardigan and TONS of jewelry! It kept me warm waiting outside and cool inside during the show, and fun and stylish for the concert.

Here's Jessica Alba rocking denim leggings, an oversized sweater and black combat boots for an edgy fall look. Also check out here amazing oversized scarf!!

This leggings and boots look is PERFECT for fall. It’s just the right amount of coverage to keep  you warm, but even on those warmer fall days, it can be light and easy to wear. Leggings are the most comfortable pants, so take advantage ladies!! Here some cute ways to dress up the leggings look…

Wearing boots with leggings is also the easiest way to look like a rock star! Just pair it with a big sweater or cardigan, lots of jewelry, and oversized sunglasses and you’re in business!

This is my favorite look for fall so check it out! And don’t forget Joey Eric has some AMAZING Infinity Scarves that are perfect holiday gifts as well!

Until next time….LOVES

Fall 2010: Oversize it! September 21, 2010

Hello fashion beauties! Hope the month of September is treating you well! Joey Eric has many exciting things coming up in the near future like the third annual Fall Fashion Preview! This will feature the 2010 Joey Eric Top Model Contest, a live DJ, food, fashion, prizes and more! It’s this Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 7pm! Come to The Greene at the Joey Eric store and be a part of a fun night of fashion!

Now for some fashion trends for fall! As I watch TV and see ads in commercials, I can’t help but notice the amount of oversized clothing that is making its way towards fall fashion. We’ve all seen the “boyfriend jeans” and blazers that were so popular over the summer and last spring. Now it’s fall’s turn and it full of ponchos, jackets and capes…all oversized of course!

These oversized ponchos from H&M were featured on a commercial heavily played on MTV. They are perfect to keep you warm in the winter and perfect with skinny jeans and boots.

Fit blankets, coats, hoods, capes and jackets are all oversized for the fall and are the perfect way to keep yourself in the warm weather. This oversized look transitions into the fall to give you a cool, bohemian look just like peasant shirts for this past summer.

Unbelievably enough, the once popular poncho from 2004 is back and more popular than ever. Along with the cape and hoodies, these things are being made in wool and any heavy fabric to keep you warm in the winter without wearing a thermal coat.

Pictured above are Liv Tyler, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson in their ponchos and capes. The plaid pattern which is also very trendy gives them a perfect look for fall and winter. Add skinny jeans or leggings and you have the perfect outfit to keep you warm.

So, don’t go out in the cold this year and get your poncho or oversized coat soon! Don’t worry about it being to big…the more oversized the better! Also experience with different fall colors and patterns to play it up right! And as always don’t forget the jewelry and accessories!

Enjoy the weather! And remember, make sure to come out for the Joey Eric Fall Fashion Preview for the latest fall fashions and have some fun with your fellow fashion lovers! It’s this Saturday so mark you calendars!

Until next time….LOVES

Back to School!! August 27, 2010

Phew! It’s been awhile since I’ve written! Between a trip of L.A. for my cousin’s wedding, my birthday, and packing up to go back to school in Indiana, it’s been one crazy August! And let me tell you, being back at school has opened up so much new inspiration for ” back to school” clothes for me to write about!

Now being at college doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for ground-breaking fashion trends, as many of the students choose to wear jeans and a Ball State University T-shirt. However, with the amount of time I spend in the Art and Communications building, I do get the chance to see some artsy people with new trends and unique clothes.

Here are some of the trends I’m noticing here in Indiana:

  1. The Modest Blouse: Now at first this kind of blouse may seem uptight and more fitting under a blazer for a corporate job, however, I’ve seen many different styles of this shirt in stores and around campus. They sweet and fun that usually are worn with the button-down collar and long sleeves rolled up to the elbow. You can wear them with the ever popular skinny jeans and pair them with a cute pair of colorful flats. Try this look with a cute belt too!

2. Flirty Tank Tops: One simple way I’ve seen students keeping cool in the heat and still looking cute, is by                        wearing jean shorts and a cute tank top. Whether is be a flowy, floral top or just a simple, one-colored tank top,              this trend is the easiest to wear. To dress it up try wearing dress shorts with a floral tank top and heels to put                    together an outfit for evening!

Here's Ashley Greene looking fun and flirty in a simple white top, shorts and ballet flats!

3. The Blazer: Surprisingly, I’ve seen a lot of blazers and bomber jackets on campus. They give an outfit an edgy or classy look, while also keeping you warm in those early fall days. A blazer is timeless and is now being sold in different sizes from the typical longer blazer to the shorter cut blazer with designs and studded collars. The bomber jacket is a cute way to add a military/edgy feel to your outfit. the blazer is a MUST HAVE for fall fashion! Even with leggings, a long top and TONS of jewelry, this outfit is so cute for evenings out!

Here's Beyonce, Dakota Fanning, and Kim Kardasian working the blazer in three completely different ways! Whether it's fun and flirty or sophisticated and classy, the blazer is sure to impress!

Those are just some of the few trends I’m discovering this year on campus, but I look forward to finding new styles throughout the year and of course, keeping up with the trends all around the world! Got a trend in your city that’s got you SO excited??? Comment on this post with what it is and I can blog about it!

Can’t wait to see where fashion brings me next!

Until Next time…LOVES

Take it off….the shoulder that is! August 2, 2010

Hello fashionistas! It’s been awhile since my last blog…you all know how crazy summer can get! And it’s almost over and time for back to school shopping!! Of course my favorite part about back to school is not the supplies and moving all my junk back into a dorm room, it’s getting a whole new wardrobe for school! New clothes mean a new attitude and style for a fresh start to the school year.

A style I’ve been seeing recently around town is the “off the shoulder” shirts, tees and even dresses! They’re so cute and easy to wear! They give you that edgy style to make you feel sexy and cute, but still feel totally relaxed and comfortable!

I first saw this look on one of my best friends, Chelsea who is totally cute and always up on the latest trends! One night, I was totally inspired by outfit which consisted of a white off the shoulder top, jean shorts and Ray-Ban sunglasses. It was such an easy outfit to wear, yet she looked like she walked right out of a magazine! She had a beautiful summer glow and looked completely comfortable and gorgeous!

Here's Hayden Panettiere showing off her shoulder in this cute pink top. It gives her a fun and flirty look for a night out!

Stars like Vanessa Hudgens, Beyonce and Nicole Richie are huge fans of the look! They can be worn dressed up on a beautiful dress or just worn casually as a “boho” style. It gives you so many options! And the best way to make sure you’re wearing a good “off the shoulder” shirt or dress is to:

  • Make sure the fit is right: you don’t want it too big and completely off the shoulder!
  • Find the right bra: wearing the right kind of bra so that straps are concealed is the best way to keep your outfit looking classy!
  • Accessorize: Adding some “pizzazz” to your top always makes an outfit complete! And Joey Eric has got all the jewelry you need! A cute long chain necklace would go perfect!

Dont miss out on this CUTE fashion trend!! Once you get the shirt, let Joey Eric do the rest for you with cute accessories and handbags!

Until next time….LOVES

“Dress Me Up!” Dress Trends for 2010! July 14, 2010

I was NEVER a dress girl…it was always too much hassle to make sure you couldn’t see through it or if you had the right bra or shoes to go with it. And they usually weren’t all that comfortable! However, with the trend of all kinds of dresses exploding this summer, I find myself wearing more of these comfortable, cotton dresses!

Dresses are no longer just seen as a “fancy” clothing item. They come in simple black, cotton dresses for summer or even work as a bathing suit cover-up. I see girls all over wearing dresses just as everyday wear instead of jeans and a T-shirt.

While searching for the latest dress trends for the spring/summer I came across a website that predicts trends called MillionLooks.com. They broke down the coolest dress trends for the year!

My favorite so far have been the “Light” Dress. Unlike a stiff dress, this one is free and inviting which is perfect for the heat of the summer! The most popular styles in “light” dresses are florals which is also a HUGE trend for this summer!

Another great look is the “strapless” dress! It’s so elegant and sophisticated and makes any dress look GLAMOROUS! It’s a perfect way to showcase you shoulders and make way for a beautiful necklace!

Joey Eric just got some GREAT new dresses that follow many of the trends I found on the website, and they are in beautiful colors for summer!

Here are three Joey Eric dresses. On the left, you have a "light" dress perfect for summer with ruffles! And in the center, you have the perfect strapless dress! And what a great color!

I’m loving this purple color for summer too! It’s perfect for all of you sun-kissed cuties with an amazing tan for the summer! I know I’ve been changed by this ever popular trend of dresses…have you???

“Not-so-Safe” Trend Alert!: What Big Eyes You Have! July 6, 2010

Lady Gaga has been a fashion icon since her music first appeared on the music billboard’s with “Just Dance” and continuing with songs like “Alejandro” and “Paparazzi.” However her song, “Bad Romance” has caught lots of attention with the larger-than-life eyes featured in part of her music video.

Woman across the country are now buying these contact lenses to give them the same effect. While Lady Gaga’s may have been computer generated, countries like China and Singapore are developing these FDA unapproved lenses for a price.

In Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video, her eyes appear larger than normal with an enhanced pupil size. Woman around the country could be hurting their eyes by copying her style.

According to an article in the New York Times, “these contacts, known as “circle lenses”, are colored contacts — sometimes in weird shades like violet and pink — that make the eyes appear larger because they cover not just the iris, as normal lenses do, but also part of the whites”…..can you say CREEPY?!

Illegal and Dangerous??

It is illegal in the U.S. to be selling contact lenses with NO prescription, however some women are known to be having as many as 20 or 30 pairs of these lenses!! In all different colors!

They have become mainstream in places like China, Singapore and Korea because of the “anime” look they give young girls. However, American optometrists say the circle lenses are dangerous to the eye and could cause the eye to not get enough oxygen and eventually cause serious eye damage or blindness.

Not enough research has been done about the lenses, but one fact is for sure…it is extremely dangerous to buy contact lenses without a proper prescription.

Here's a picture of a young girl wearing the circle lenses to give her eyes a purple tint to them. The lenses are already mainstream in Asia and are getting popular in America as well.

Just like all trends, they usually come from a music video, magazine or a picture of a celebrity taking a chance on an outfit. However not all trends are as unknown and dangerous as the Lady Gaga inspired lenses. Who knows how popular they will be and how long they’ll be around?? Have you seen anyone with these “circle lenses??”

For me, why not just draw attention to your eyes with some fancy new make-up or great jewelry on your ears and neck? I guess that’s the thing with fashion….you never really know where it will turn next!?

BE CAREFUL! and Until next time….LOVES
